Learning to color

I learned to color from my Grandma Baer. She taught me to color inside the lines. She taught me tricks to cover up if you colored outside the line. She taught me how to use a butter knife to scrape some of the crayon wax off to create different shades. She told me to color the sun yellow and my hair brown. Imagine my surprise when I went to kindergarten and kids colored outside of the lines. One day our teacher gave us a unicorn to color. I didn't know what to do. I had only seen white unicorns. It was already white. I looked next to me and a girl was coloring hers aqua and purple on top of that. It was the most beautiful unicorn I had ever seen. I never colored the same ever again. That's probably why I got a C in Art in Jr. High. I would definately challenge that C now.

Color and art have been claimed, in a solid and permanent sense, by you. The way you play with and speak through color now is one of the things I absolutely adore about your artwork. The tree is very excellent: well balanced, great color. Thank you for telling me of its creation -- a passing comment prompting a glorious reality. Lots of things should work that way. I'm very excited to see you.
