Peacock Crossing

When we first moved to our house is West Jordan Utah I saw the weirdest thing. I thought I was mistaken. I saw about 5 peacocks on top of a roof. Then I noticed the sign and realized I wasn't crazy. I really appreciate whimsy like that. It inspired a quilt block on the top of the row. The one next to it is inspired by the movie Mamma Mia. Singing dancing and hung up laundry. The colors of Greece. ( not quite as blue, but the closest I had.)

Pearl Party

My mom hosted a pearl party at her house last night. Zoe picked an oyster with a light cream pearl. Then the "pearl lady" put it under the light to show how shiny it was. My friend's daughter picked one with twin peach pearls.
Zoe liked the excitement of finding out what the pearl will look like. The oystered are dead but preserved in a special to keep the pearl from decaying. It's an interesting new idea for in home parties. Archer was mad that he didn't get to go. "it was a girl thing." We've had to do research all morning on how oysters reproduce. He's officially fascinated. Zoe's pearl will be put in a starfish charm necklace for her to wear. I didn't go because I was sick. Zoe said she would recommend it to a friend. If you're interested I found a website about it.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Zebra suit

When I was a junior in high school my mom had a calender in her office. I saw this picture...
I thought it was so beautiful that it was unbelieveable. Two years ago I took an Early Childhood Education class speaking of Emilio Reggio approach. It showed pictures of teachers in a zebra suit running through
these flowers in Italy. Wow, I was inspired. The video probably was from the 1990's. Then the students collected things from the field brought it back to class and created a beautiful mural.

It's what I got

I'm not creating based on any pattern. It's rather free flowing. I hope it turns out well. I don't know what it will look like when it's done. I'm going piece by piece. This quilt is a Little Red Riding hood quilt for my niece Biella. There will be pieced house blocks as well. I need to redo the templates. So they are not finished yet. This quilt has taken a huge amount of strength and editing. I'm trying to stay true to the story in my head.

My favorite things

My favorite doll and my favorite fabric designer. She's a Strawberyy Shortcake doll. She is Raspberry Tart. I've had her most of my life. She's cute and smells good too. Amy Butler can not do wrong in designing. I just finished reading The Book Thief. I thought it was sad, and it made me want to watch The Sound of Music. These are just a few of my favorite things. Martha Stewart and Julie Andrews have them and so do I. My family is on the top of the list. I simply remember them and then I don't feel so bad. I love you all!

The holiday, Dragon and Pirate quilt

This is the quilt that was the catalyst. I saw it on the Material Obsession website.
This quilt represents my Christmas Holiday this year. I watched The holiday over and over. I listened to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader again. I loved and ate sushi on purpose no seahorse, but eel yes.

This block is in the above quilt as well as dragons inspired by the Dawn Treader.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

This is the newest addition to our family Smores. She is a black lab \blue heeler mix. She's so sweet and practically potty-trained. She's so great! We are having so much fun. It hasn't been snowing here but it sure is windy. We are trying to get back into the swing of things. restarting homeschooling and I'm back in school this week too! I liked the break but it's over. We spent Christmas in SLC.

I was able to meet my newest niece Josie. I ate sushi. I got a haircut from my favorite salon. What a great way to start the year.
