To Breathe Again

There has been rain! The fires have put an unfortunate damper on our summer. Not just the limited camping, no fireworks, the worrying, but also no breathing.  Every day I would wake up to the smell of smoke. Something about the smell of smoke starts your heart beating faster. It messes with your mind. Fire is such a powerful thing. Fire is my enemy.
I have a store of fabric that is precious to me and irreplaceable items that I love.  The Bible warns us against such things.
Matthew 6:19 says, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal."
Every summer starting at the time the tornadoes come I worry about my stuff.  Stuff seems to be a dirty word.  I feel bad for worrying but I do. I feel bad for every person that was in the path of the fires.

I hope and pray that they can pick up the pieces. Not only does fire destroy, but a leaves a lingering smell that won't let you forget. It leaves behind ash and char marks that turn the color to black and white.

I am grateful for the colors in my world and that I can breathe again.

Just a good day

Summer is fun. The kids have already finished their summer reading and received their prizes for doing so. They received another card. For every 25 more hours they read, 5 dollars will go to help hungry kids. Reading with the kids in the summer is the best. it feels like extra credit.  We finished reading Hatchet by Gary Paulson. Now we are reading One Crazy Summer b

Jewel Quilt

These butterflies will probably be the border.

For my Jewel Quilt. I am on step 6  of 11.   I'm calling it Jewel because of the colors. Have I told you I love color? Well, I do.  The pattern is from the book Glorious Patchwork by Kaffe Fassett.  I've so many quilts I need to do. This one is a symbol of me being a little selfish.  Sometimes you have to do what you want to do for a little while.  It'll look a lot better once it is done.

This is Tookie sounds like Tuki

This is our turkey Tookie.  Not sure if it's male or female ye.  He/She stands above all the other chickens and steps on them. It makes them squawk. He/ She steps on their heads and bottoms. He doesn't look where he is going.  Zach wanted a guard turkey and I wanted Thanksgiving dinner.  Zach formed an early attachment so dinner might be store bought. I've never met any other turkey, but this one sure is sweet.

Oh boy, Here We Go Again

I miss blogging so I'm going to do it again. I don't know if anyone will read it anymore. It's okay.  Summer is here and we have a lot of gardening to do. We also have a bunny eating our lettuce. I will be homeschooling throughout the summer with the occasional break. I'm quilting again or still. (something like that)   I'm going to post pictures of my current project later. I miss finding the rhythym of my writing and keeping that  into practice. I hope I can keep it up. I found a cute background. I think that might help. Okay here we go.
